Animal Coloring Pages: 20 Free Printable Pages (PDF)

Here are 20 free animal coloring pages, ready to print as PDFs. They are black-and-white line drawings with thick, simple outlines in the classic coloring book style: big shapes and few details, perfect for preschoolers and kindergartners, and still fun for older kids who want a quiet afternoon with markers and colored pencils.

The animals come in four groups: pets at home, like the puppy, the kitten and the bunny; farm animals, from the cow to the piglet; wild animals of the woods and the savanna, like the lion cub, the giraffe and the panda; and finally the butterfly, the turtle and the animals of the sea.

How to print and color

For the best result, print on paper that is a little thicker than regular printer paper. Paper that is 24 lb (about 90 g/m²) works, and drawing paper or light cardstock is even better because the marker ink will not bleed through to the other side.

The pages are sized for A4 paper. If you print on US Letter, choose “fit to page” or “scale to fit” in the print dialog and the whole drawing will fit with a small margin.

Markers and crayons work best for the youngest kids, because they fill the big shapes quickly. Colored pencils are perfect for the details: the giraffe’s spots, the butterfly’s wings, the pattern on the turtle’s shell.

An idea for school or home: every child colors a favorite animal, and then you try sorting them all together into pets, farm, wild and sea animals. You can print each PDF as many times as you like: it is always there to download again.

Frequently asked questions

Are the coloring pages really free?

Yes. All 20 pages are free to download as often as you like, with no sign-up and no email address required.

Can I use them at school or with a group of kids?

Yes. You can print them and use them for activities with children, in the classroom, at summer camp or at a party.

What format are the files?

Each page is a one-page PDF, ready to print. The page size is A4; on US Letter paper just print with “fit to page”.

What ages are they good for?

The thick lines and big shapes make them a good fit from about age 3 or 4. The pages with more detail, like the giraffe, the butterfly or the fox in the woods, are popular with elementary school kids too.

Are the drawings hand-drawn or made with AI?

The illustrations in this section are generated with artificial intelligence and then reworked to match the style of the site. They are original subjects, with no copyrighted characters.

Can I sell them or use them for a commercial product?

No. The pages are for personal, family and classroom use (school, groups, parties), not for resale or for products sold to others.

Are there other coloring themes besides animals?

Yes. You can also try our Christmas coloring pages, and more themes will be added during the year. You will find all of them on the Coloring Pages page.
