About OneDayQuiz

OneDayQuiz is a site of quizzes, stories and games: it’s free to use, and it makes money from advertising. We think the people who play here deserve to know how it works: how the content is made, where the money comes from, what role artificial intelligence plays and what we do with your data.

This page explains all of that in plain words. The formal rules are in our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy and Terms of Use.

Who runs OneDayQuiz

OneDayQuiz has been online since 2017. It is an editorial project of ONiDEA adv Srl unipersonale, a communications agency based at Via Adeodato Ressi 16, 20125 Milan, Italy (VAT no. IT10309720968).

The site is run by Davide de Mattia, who created it in 2017 and has looked after its content ever since: quizzes, stories, reviews and editorial choices all go through him. OneDayQuiz started in Italian; this English section is newer and growing.

For anything about the site (a report, a correction, a request) you can write to info@onedayquiz.com or use our contact form.

How we use artificial intelligence

We use AI tools for part of our work: drafts of texts, quiz questions, illustrations, narration for some audio content, first drafts of interactive stories, and help with translating content into English. It isn’t a secret and it isn’t a shortcut: it’s a production tool, like design software or a proofreader.

What matters is what we do with it afterward:

  • Every piece of content is checked by a person before it goes online. Questions, answers, texts and stories are read, checked and corrected by us. We are responsible for what you read, not a program.
  • We check the facts. A wrong quiz is a useless quiz: dates, names and answers are verified against independent sources before publication. If a mistake slips through (it happens), write to us and we’ll fix it.
  • Illustrations are illustrations. The AI-generated images we use are graphics and drawings, not photographs. If we ever publish a realistic image that could be mistaken for a real photo, we’ll say next to it that it was generated with AI.
  • There is no chatbot on the site. When you play, you aren’t talking to an AI: you’re using a programmed game. If we ever add a feature that talks with you, we’ll tell you clearly before you use it.

This approach is also what the European AI Act asks of us. Since August 2, 2026 it has set transparency obligations for AI-generated content (Article 50): publishers of texts that undergo human editorial review and take responsibility for them fall under the exception in the law, while realistic content that could mislead must still be labeled. We have chosen to say it anyway, even where we don’t have to.

Stories for children and teens

Our stories section deserves a few more words, because young readers use it. The stories are created with the help of AI and then rewritten, checked and reviewed by us: the plot, the language, the endings and the themes are our choice, not the automatic output of a program. If you’re a parent and something in a story doesn’t feel right to you, write to us: we want to know.

How OneDayQuiz makes money

The site is free for players. It is supported by advertising.

We show some Google AdSense ads in a few places chosen so they don’t get in the way of playing or reading:

  • on the quiz page, before you start a game;
  • on the results page, at the end of a quiz;
  • in longer articles.

We don’t show ads during the questions of a quiz, in stories for children and teens, or on login and account pages. We don’t use pop-up ads or ads that stay fixed on top of the content.

The ad space is sold by Google, not by us: we don’t choose which advertisers appear, and no advertiser can decide, change or influence what we write.

Personalized ads, chosen according to your interests, are only turned on if you accept marketing cookies in the banner you see on your first visit. If you decline, ads still appear but are not personalized: Google may show generic ones, based for example on the page content. You can change your mind at any time using the “Cookie preferences” link at the bottom of every page.

The Italian pages of the site also contain Amazon affiliate links in board game reviews and some articles. The English pages currently have none.

How our quizzes are made

Every quiz has one correct answer, and after you answer we always tell you which one it is, with a short explanation and an extra fact. Many of our English quizzes are adapted from the Italian site; others are written specifically for English-speaking players. In both cases they are checked before publication, and the rules for scoring, timers and hints are explained in the quiz guide.

Our board game reviews, currently in Italian, are written and signed by Davide de Mattia. We don’t receive free copies, samples or payments from publishers in exchange for a review, and no company can buy a rating, a ranking position or a mention.

Your data, cookies and your account

In short (the full details are in the Privacy Policy):

  • You can play without signing up. An account lets you save your scores, appear on the leaderboards and keep your progress.
  • If you sign up, we ask for a username, email, password and your country. Nothing else is required.
  • Newsletters and marketing messages are optional and are accepted with a separate checkbox, never hidden inside sign-up. You can unsubscribe whenever you want.
  • Statistics and personalized ads only start after you consent. Until you answer the banner, Google Analytics and ad personalization cookies stay off; non-personalized ads may still appear (see the Cookie Policy).

The full list of cookies, with names and durations, is in the Cookie Policy.

Images, audio and text: where they come from

The site has been online since 2017 and over the years has built up thousands of questions, images and audio files. We are carrying out a systematic review of this material, item by item, to make sure every image, audio track and text is either our own or properly licensed, and to replace anything that isn’t. The flags in our flag quizzes come from Wikimedia Commons and are in the public domain.

If you believe content published on OneDayQuiz infringes one of your rights, write to info@onedayquiz.com with the page address, the content concerned and your reason for writing. We’ll check and, if the report is well founded, remove or replace the content quickly and without argument.

The subject and hint icons come from Twemoji and are licensed under CC BY 4.0.

It works both ways: OneDayQuiz’s original quizzes, stories, texts and graphics are ours and may not be republished elsewhere without our consent. If you’d like to quote us or use part of our content, just ask: the answer is almost always yes.

Mistakes, corrections and questions

No site with thousands of questions is free of mistakes. If you find a wrong answer, a typo, a broken link or something that doesn’t add up, write to us at info@onedayquiz.com: we’ll fix it and, if the mistake was ours and significant, we’ll say so.

This page is updated whenever something actually changes.
